Sunflowers, 2023

Acrylic, oil, pencil on canvas. 16x20 in

This painting portrays sunflowers as an Orthodox icon, traditionally hung on the walls accompanied by an embroidered towel (rushnyk). The composition symbolizes a protective charm (oberig) that wards off negative energies and spirits. I imbued this piece with inner strength, intended to safeguard all who offer their support.

Boy, 2023

Acrylic, oil, pencil on canvas. 16x20 in

I created this work at a time when I was really lonely. This work hopes to evoke a sense of calm and tranquility, this depiction of a young boy has been my solace during challenging times. Gazing at this artwork, I am comforted and reassured, as if a gentle voice whispers, "Everything will be alright, let your fears fade away."
